ウィリアム・A・サイター（William A. Seiter、1890年6月10日 - 1964年7月26日）は、アメリカ合衆国の映画監督である。

経歴

ニューヨークの生まれ。Hudson River Military Academy卒業後、1915年に映画界に入り、マック・セネットのキーストン・スタジオで端役やスタントをこなしながら監督もやる。

1920年代半ばにはユニバーサル・スタジオでレジナルド・デニー主演映画のメイン監督を務める。デニーの相手役だったローラ・ラ・プラントと結婚（後に離婚しと再婚）。

トーキーの時代が来ると、RKOでお笑いの「頓珍漢コンビ（Wheeler & Woolsey）」をスターにし、また「極楽コンビ（ローレル&ハーディ）」の映画も撮った。

その長いキャリアにおいて、シャーリー・テンプル、フレッド・アステア、ジンジャー・ロジャース、ヘンリー・フォンダ、マーガレット・サラヴァン、バーバラ・スタンウィック、ジャック・ヘイリー、ディアナ・ダービン、ジーン・アーサー、ジョン・ウェイン、フレッド・マクマレイ、ルシル・ボール、リタ・ヘイワース、マルクス兄弟といった多くのスターの映画を監督した。

1964年、心筋梗塞で死去。74歳だった。遺体はカリフォルニア州グレンデールのForest Lawn Memorial Parkに埋葬された。孫に脚本家のテッド・グリフィンがいる。
