The Power of the Dog is a much-needed cinematic meditation designed by Jane Campion, a classic female director who has been out of the chair for over a decade. As in The Piano, the film explores the mysterious side of human sexuality. As homoerotic as it may be, the film overall lets the viewer reflect on what shirtless cowboys could mean. Challenging, poetic films are a rare gem from Netflix.
