After many years outside the US, Moxie was a trusty guide to the current American psyche of the high school student's family experience. Cringe all you want, but this is really what American students are probably dealing with. Poehler adapts the story with honesty and integrity. Tsai's presence in the film is quite a charm; somehow she feels elevated above all of it. She's just being nice.
