Bhutan's 2021 entry to the Academy Awards at first glance appears a documentary. It might as well be--it looks as if the performers were recruited doing whatever it was they were already doing. A big town teacher finishes his work in the mountainy countryside, deciding whether or not to bail to Australia. A balance of beauty between the untouched world and an unseen will to raise living standards.
