Burning is a read-between-the-lines masterpiece, cryptic and not conforming to any genre. Jong-Su barely talks throughout the film, but through his motions in the chain of events and interactions with other characters and subplots of the film, we are always within his thinking. It's a sad tale dealing with loss of heart and jealousy; promises perceived but not fulfilled. Happy endings can't occur.
