"Silence" is an epic historical drama film
"Silence" is directed by ,one of my favourite directors, Martin Scorsese, who is known for directing "Taxi Driver", "Raging Bull", "Goodfellas", and "Hugo" and stars Andrew Garfield (Amazing Spider-Man), Adam Driver(Star Wars Force Awakens), Tadanobu Asano and Liam Neeson(Schindler's List).
I'd been waiting for this film since Martin Scorsese just planned to make this. Although I haven't read the novel by Shuuskaku Endo, which bases this story, I've just studied this era in which Christianity had been banned in Japan and Christians were forced to step on a fumie to make sure that they renounce their faith. Honestly I was not really good at this era in Japanese history class cos the textbook just depicts some particular events really briefly, nevertheless it's full of words that we have to know at least to apprehend that era. Whereas lots of things that I didn't know or remember got absorbed into my brain through this film, even which runs for only 160mins (though as a film, it's a little bit long). I just would like to thank Martin Scorsese for making such a brilliant epic for us. It's really worthwhile watching this but one thing that I want you to know is that this even, in which Japanese people torture Christians, what is more, decapitated them, actually happened about 400years ago. Kinda curious about how Christians feel if they watch the film though.
Hope Silence will win some Oscars this year.
