With Timur Bekmambetov in the production credits, you can't ignore his contribution to making this film throw in a new approach to experiencing the hardship of the Jewish Holocaust. It's the story of Gilles, a Jew whose appearance lets him dupe Nazis into thinking he is Persian. Based on a German short story, the Russian producer's knack for swimming against the current produces emotional results.
