The old-fashioned slasher film gets the colorful A24 treatment in X, which is basically a sexed up version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, without the chainsaws. In 1970 a troupe of pornographers settle on an Air Bnb hosted by a couple of disturbed and ugly old people raising an alligator. A simple yet psychologically damaged film with artful edits and contrast. A tad long but noticeably singular.
