A slow-baked tale of life in the Jintao to Xi Jingping transition stage of Chinese history, in Northern Central China. With Alibaba in the production, it's a bighouse film strewn as arthouse picture. It's intresting that this film was allegedly a threat to Chinese rule, and its heartbreak tale of poverty was whittled down. It's the latest lens into Chinese society. Good music by Iran's Yazdanian.
