Hong's films usually lack traditional movie conflict. Often such is implied through the overall prose of the seemingly uneventful moments on screen. Shots are artfully coincidental. Zooms onto unplanned occurrences in frame, such as a cat's yawn, prove as momentous as the scripted dialogue. Everyday items take reoccurring roles, such as the chime of an auto-lock door which punctuates some scenes.
