At first glance, this is just another one of those epic Chinese films packed with Forbidden City set designs, horses, royal circle plot lines which are hard to follow, and meticulous fight choreography. The aded bonus is Hark's cheesiness echoing from Iron Monkey and Once Upon a Time in China. The imaginative climax featuring a giant iron Buddha head is as cool as anything in a Peter Jackson epic.
