Romance Downer
In its introduction, Turkish Delight fools the viewer into thinking it's some grimey European exploitation shock about a sexually deranged serial killer. It's actually rather a sad tale on the hopelessness of love. We now know Verhoeven is a master of his own taste, and the future of his career is on full display in this now 50-year-old film. A good look at the quirkiness of Dutch culture.

エンタメじゃない方のヴァーホーベン作品。
人間が見たくないと思うものを突きつけてくる一度見たら忘れられない強烈な映画。
それでも映し出されたものは人間の作り出したものである。
ヤン・ヘンドリック・ヴォルカースの1969年の Turks fruitを原作としていて、原題は原作があるからのことなんだけど、Turkish Delightのことを言ってる。ターキッシュ・デライトはドライフルーツを使ったお菓子の名前で、喉詰まらせたやつ。
DVD発売されてることに驚いた。
