During the first half of Alien: Romulus, I had a small quibble that the story, which serves as a direct sequel to the original Alien, seemed to follow similar plot points to its predecessor. However, the latter half of the film escalates exponentially, introducing a new and terrifying alien creature as a worthy counterpart to its master. Surely, any small child who happens to walk in on this beast will be forever traumatized. The movie features a young, talented cast and remains true to the aesthetic established by Ridley Scott in Alien and later expanded upon in Prometheus. Both sequel and remake, it feels more like a techno remix epilogue to the original.
