ジェームズ・エイキャスター : ウィキペディア（Wikipedia）

ジェームズ・エイキャスター（James Acaster、1985年1月9日 - ）は、イギリスノーサンプトンシャーケタリング出身のコメディアンである。現在はロンドンに住んでいる。

エイキャスターはエディンバラ・フェスティバル・フリンジにおいて授与されるエディンバラ・コメディ・アワーズの最優秀賞に史上初めて5年連続でノミネートされた。 また、彼のコメディショー「Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999」は2019年メルボルン国際コメディフェスティバル最優秀賞を受賞している。

「Mock the Week」、「Taskmaster」、「8 Out of 10 Cats」、「Would I Lie to You」といったイギリスのバラエティ番組への出演経験がある。エイキャスターが出演する、4回の各1時間のスタンドアップコメディショーから成る「Repertoire」が2018年よりNetflixで公開されている。

本を2冊出版しており、いずれもサンデータイムズベストセラーとなっている。出版した本は、自らが経験したハプニングの数々を記した「James Acaster's Classic Scrapes」（2017年）と、2016年に発売されたアルバムのレビューを記した「Perfect Sound Whatever」（2019年）である。

現在、バラエティ番組「Hypothetical」、食べものをテーマにしたポッドキャスト「Off Menu」、音楽をテーマにしたBBCのポッドキャスト「James Acaster's Perfect Sounds」の司会を務めている 。

経歴

音楽でキャリアを築くことを目指し、地元ノーサンプトンシャーで「Wow! Scenario」「Capri-Sun Quartet」といったバンドのドラマーとして活動していた。 最後のバンドが解散した後、自分の就きたい仕事を考えている期間にスタンドアップコメディを定期的に行うようになり、スタンドアップコメディアンを職業にすると決めた。

2009年にジョッシュ・ウィディコーム、ニック・ヘルムとともにエディンバラ・フェスティバル・フリンジでショーに出演した。 2010年にジョーシー・ロング、2011年にミルトン・ジョーンズのコメディツアーに同行し前座を務めた。

エディンバラ・フェスティバル・フリンジでは、2011年に「Amongst Other Things」、2012年に「Prompt」、2013年に「Lawnmower」、2014年に「Recognise」、2015年に「Represent」、2016年に「Reset」、2017年に「The Trelogy」というタイトルの単独ショーを開催し出演している。 2012年から2016年のショーは5年連続でエディンバラ・コメディ・アワーズの最優秀賞にノミネートされた。 2017年の「The Trelogy」は、2014年～2016年の「Recognise」、「Represent」、「Reset」を合体したショーである。

2017年には、「Recognise」、「Represent」、「Reset」に「Recap」を加えた4つのショーを撮影した。これは、2018年に「Repertoire」としてNetflixで公開された。 Netflixで複数のオリジナル・スペシャルを公開するのはイギリス人のコメディアンとしては初であった。

2019年にツアーを実施したショーである「Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999」はメルボルン国際コメディフェスティバルの最優秀賞を受賞した。 このショーは2020年12月にDICEでストリーム公開が行われた後、「Make a New Tomorrow」というボーナスショーと共に2021年3月にVimeoにてオンデマンド動画として販売開始された。
