"La Tortue Rouge" has no dialogue but beauty
"The Red Turtle" is a co-production between Wild Bunch and Studio Ghibli, directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit. Although this animated fantasy film has no dialogue, its music, sounds of natural things such as the wave of sea, winds or some foliages blown in the wind makes the film really beautiful and we feel really comfortable to hear those natural sounds through the film. The plot is very simple for anyone to understand. A man is drifted away to an isolated island where he encounters a big red turtle that turns out to be a beautiful young woman. They live together with their child and never fall apart till one of two passes away there. Though he is never able to go home and ends up living in the island for the rest of his life, the red turtle(wife) and he are meant to be there. It's such a beautiful story even with no dialogue. Perhaps if it had been for some conversations or dialogues, it could've not been that beautiful. Each Ghibli film is depicted in different ways to tell the audience something important in our lives beautifully!
It got a nomination for Best Animated Feature a couple hours ago by the way.
