「その時代を目撃するWitnessing an Era」遠い山なみの光　新米エヴァンゲリストさんの映画レビュー（感想・評価）

映画を観て、その後、原作読了。

直後に原作に当たったのは、
映画の肝になるストーリーの確認のため。
原作にはハッキリとは書かれていなかった。

映画観た後で、
筋立ては尺に合わせて短くなり
話は前後し、
内容も一部変わっていたけれど
恐ろしいくらいまで、
原作との違和感がない。

むしろ、実写化の力を存分に味わえる。
原作者がスタッフとして関わりそれが
良い方向に作用した好例。

広瀬すずさんと、二階堂ふみさんのやりとりは
まさに悦子と佐知子の関係そのもの。

物語によってあの時代を生きた
あの時代を経験した人々を
永久保存して未来に繋げたと感じた。

物語の力によって真実を語る、
それを具現化している。

キャスティングにより、
時代の変化に取り残された者
時代の変化に対応していった者
時代の変化を受け入れた者
彼らが描かれ、
あの時代を垣間見たような感覚に襲われる。

今の映像技術ゆえに、
描く事が可能になったんだろうな。
10年前だとチープになった可能性もある。

やっぱり映画って凄い。

I first watched the film, then immediately picked up the novel it was based on. I wanted to confirm the core storyline, only to find that in the original text, it wasn’t as clearly stated as in the adaptation.

The film shortened the plot to fit within its runtime, shuffled the order of events, and even altered parts of the narrative. And yet, astonishingly, it felt seamless—there was no sense of dissonance with the source material.

Instead, the adaptation demonstrated the true strength of live-action filmmaking. It became a perfect example of how the involvement of the original author as part of the production team can enhance the work in a positive way.

The exchanges between Suzu Hirose and Fumi Nikaidō perfectly embodied the relationship between Etsuko and Sachiko. Through their performances, the story seemed to preserve the lives and experiences of that era, carrying them forward into the future like a time capsule.

This is the power of storytelling: to convey truth through fiction, and the film brought that idea to life.

The casting highlighted those left behind by the tides of history, those who adapted, and those who embraced change. Watching them unfold on screen gave me the uncanny sense of peering directly into that bygone age.

Thanks to modern filmmaking techniques, the film could achieve this depth of portrayal. Had it been attempted a decade ago, it might have felt flat or cheap.

In the end, I was left with a renewed sense of awe—cinema really is something extraordinary.
