Sean Baker delivers his finest take yet on the sex worker class chasing the American dream. Its real-time, day-in-the-life plot plays like a comedy Martin Scorsese might direct. It’s a sexy adventure film—perhaps not as deep as its multiple Oscar wins might suggest—but it excels in being unpredictable. Of course, the charming Mikey Madison steals the show, much like Ariana Grande did in Wicked.
