バール・アイヴス（Burl Ives, 1909年6月14日 - 1995年4月14日）は、アメリカ合衆国の歌手、俳優。日本では俳優のイメージが強いが、元々はアメリカで数多くのヒット曲を持つフォーク歌手である。

略歴

1909年6月14日、イリノイ州ジャスパー郡の農家の息子として生まれる。幼いときから歌が上手く、高校時代にアメフト部でフルバックとして活躍する一方でバンジョーを学ぶ。1927年にフットボールのコーチを目指して東イリノイ州立教員養成大学（Eastern Illinois State Teacher's College、現在の）に入学するがBetsy Cole, "Eastern Mourns Burl Ives," Daily Eastern News, 17 April 1995.、1930年に中退Ives, Wayfaring Stranger pp. 108–109.、ヒッチハイクでアメリカ中を旅しながらストリートミュージシャンとして活動するようになる。

1940年に自身のラジオ番組『The Wayfaring Stranger』（CBS）の放送開始で人気歌手になり、1946年の映画『Smoky』に歌うカウボーイ役で出演する。その後、俳優として数多くの映画やテレビドラマに出演するようになり、1958年の映画『大いなる西部』でアカデミー助演男優賞とゴールデングローブ賞 助演男優賞を受賞する。その後も俳優として活躍するだけでなく多くのアルバムを発表。またブロードウェイの舞台にも出演。

1995年4月14日、口腔癌のためワシントン州アナコルテスで死去。

エピソード

40代のころから老人役を演じることが多く、例えば、代表作の1つである『熱いトタン屋根の猫』(1958)で息子役を演じたジャック・カーソンとは1歳しか違わなかった。
