Blue Caftan is the Phantom Thread of the Arab world, telling the story of a tailor's different kind of love. The film has interestingly wholesome portrayals of homosexuality, necessarily open to interpreation given the culture the film is made, but bold in going the mile. It differs than say Brokeback Mountain with the subject's sexuality defining the marriage with his wife more than breaking it.
