Wim Wenders' slice of life drama about a toilet janitor in Shibuya shows an appreciation for one the city's most prestigous whilst undervalued services. The act of toilet cleaning gets a lot of screentime while showing off the city's rich assortment of commode architecture. Lighthearted and at times cheesey, the mystery behind Koji's cleaner's past is left to interpretation upon veiled sadness.
