Add Levinson's experience of Haft, a boxer who had to fight in the ring to survive, to this year's list of interesting films that explore the Holocaust. The oddball "friendship" between him and his SS manager as well as the pathological aftermath in his family life after war make for a fresh story in a film that welcomingly feels unusually 1990's. A film that shows it hasn't all been done before.
