Nope, I didn't see the first film, let alone the TV show. I didn't know what I was walking into here; and even in the first fifteen minutes I anticipated pure boredom. But unfolds a delightful Criterion Collection-style film on film, a British country-yard Singin' in the Rain that's a light hors d'oeuvre, a break from melodrama in all the other movies out. Dominic West is a great surprise here.
