Portrait is certainly a modern social issue film that addresses abortion and female homosexuality. It hangs high on the easel for its deep literary presence equal to that of a fabulous oil painting, so much so its profound nature sings in shots of the artist's fundamental sketch marks. Costumes drape the actresses with the same mystery of classical paintings. A quiet film pleasant to gaze upon.
