「壮大な命のリレーA Grand Relay of Life」雪の花　ともに在りて　新米エヴァンゲリストさんの映画レビュー（感想・評価）

種痘のこと、知っているようで知らなかった。

この映画では、
如何にして、天然痘治療が日本にやって来て
そして根付いたのか描かれている。

こんな風に描かれているのを観て、
種痘の種をこんな風にして、人に植えて
そのウィルスの抗体反応によって出来た膿を
人から人へ繋げて行くことを理解した。

他の病気についても、
過去の人たちがこんな風に積み上げて来たから
治療法が確立されて今があるし、
その積み重ねは今も続いているのだ。

なので映画の中で、ようやく手に入れた種痘の種が
腕に根付いた時、皆が歓喜した理由が理解できた。
それも翻訳された書物から得た知識で、
写真もない時代に。

落ち着いた画作りで描かれているので
登場人物がより際立って、
あの頃から今まで地続きなんだと実感できる。

フィクションだけれど
南方仁と同時代なわけで、
春嶽公の名前が出たあたりで、
おお、竜馬・・・、と
頭がぐるぐるしていた。

個人的にツボだったのは、
主人公である笠原良策とその妻、千穂が
メチャクチャ武術的に強いこと。

良策が悪漢をボコボコにした後、
治療はするが前払いだ、しかも5両て・・
あとでちゃんと治療して、
子分になってたら面白いな。

この映画は、子供に観てほしいなと思いました。
親子で来て、親子で話すと良い
そんな映画だと思いました。

I thought I knew about smallpox vaccination, but I realized there was so much I didn’t know.

This film depicts how the treatment for smallpox arrived in Japan and took root in society.

Watching it, I finally understood how the smallpox vaccine was transferred from person to person. The vaccine was inoculated, and the pus produced by the immune response was passed along, ensuring its continuation.

It made me think about how treatments for other diseases were also established through the tireless efforts of people in the past. Thanks to their dedication, we now have effective treatments, and this process is still ongoing today.

So when the long-awaited smallpox vaccine finally took hold on someone’s arm in the film, I could truly understand why everyone rejoiced. And to think that all of this knowledge came from translated texts, in an era without photographs.

The film’s calm and composed cinematography allows the characters to stand out, making it feel like a continuous thread from that time to the present.

Although it’s a work of fiction, it takes place in the same era as Jin (the TV drama), and when the name of Lord Shungaku was mentioned, I couldn’t help but think, “Oh, Ryoma…” My mind was spinning with connections.

One thing that really got me was how incredibly skilled in martial arts the protagonist, Kasahara Ryosaku, and his wife, Chiho, were.

After Ryosaku beat up a group of thugs, he told them, “I’ll treat you, but payment is required in advance—five ryo.” That line was just too good. It would be amusing if, after getting treated, those thugs ended up becoming his followers.

I felt this is a movie children should watch. It’s something parents and children should see together and then discuss.

That’s the kind of film it is.
